I was only able to make one date of the Noir City Film Festival this year. Thankfully it was a double-feature of The Thin Man and After The Thin Man, starring the unbeatable comedy duo of William Powell and Myrna Loy!
I was happy to snap photographs of a few friends in between pictures.
Nicky the barber, somehow making a dark grey overcoat and brown fedora work, standing with an undisclosed lady friend. Roberto of City Vintage in a nice black suit, nudie tie, and tall pale homburg, and AJ looking like vintage perfection in a light grey overcoat, full suit, spearpoint collar, art deco era tie, silk scarf, and swell turned-down brim on a high-crown fedora. AJ beat me, I’ll try harder next time.
Here I am standing with Suzanne of Longitude in a stellar fur-lined coat and beautiful black/white/pink printed dress, and I got a shot of Aja getting out of the Metro, wearing a sea-foam green knit ensemble that’s so great, I might have to accept liking knit ensembles. I don’t know what’s happening on top of her head.
I wore a black 1940’s 3-piece double-breasted suit with a beautiful blue/white/black woven stripe, spotted tie, grey fedora, and blue stripey socks in navy blue leather & suede shoes. The inside of the Castro Theater is lovely, but dark and quite crowded with people, so I couldn’t get many nice shots, but here’s one of their art deco light fixtures in the lobby.
I tried to play The Thin Man Drinking Game, but couldn’t even make it all the way through the first movie! I am ashamed, but oh lordy do they drink a lot!
